My Muse Drinks Coffee

Promoting yourself with words is a creative process as is art. Your goal: people will find, read and remember you.

Important too: the writer remembers what was written!

A couple visited my studio early this morning. After reviewing some of my work and chatting with the woman, also an artist, about her art work and what she hoped to learn and master, she and her partner then smiled, both acknowledging a quote,

“My muse drinks coffee.” They nodded as if that is truly what was part of my creative process.

“Where did you read that?”

“On your blog.”

“Really. Are you sure?”

They looked a little confused. “Yes.”

“Oh. Perhaps.
I write so many things, I may have forgotten.”

After the couple left, I went to my art blog and queried: “My muse drinks coffee.”

Nothing.

Hmm.

Shorten the query.

Nothing.

Examine the site more closely.

Ahh! Here it is. Part of a description of Jo M. Orise, the artist, on my blogger’s home page: Painterly Comments.

What about Jo?

Welcome back. Click on the blog link below to see what’s up on Painterly Comments blog. I paint. I write. Love it. Ain’t it great to do what you love? My muse drinks coffee—I will never stop creating.

How would I forget that? That is who I am. And I do drink coffee which obviously now affects my muse more than it affects me.

I sit down to one more cup. Black. As usual. Hopefully, enough to stir up those sleepy, little grey cells.

Jo M. Orise Art Update for August and September 2013

Blue Fog with Gulls, watercolor by Jo M. Orise

Good news! I sold four paintings at the Aldermere Farm Art Show and Sale event, August 10, 2013! The Aldermere Show is a one-day, once-a-year event. My first showing with the Farm. Proceeds from the show are shared with the Farm, which is a non-profit organization. Always glad to help.

More good news, I am now displaying work for sale at the Brown Bag Cafe, Rockland, Maine  for the month of August, and will be there for the month of September as well! Come visit! Take a painting home and enjoy your new window to an artist’s vision.

Presently, I am working on a few compositions in my brain and can’t wait to grab a pencil and brush.

Be happy. Love your neighbor. Remember YOU are someone’s neighbor too.

Art Update, November, 2011

Scenes Around Wolfeboro, New HampshireImage by billandkent via FlickrArt update!

You will see my latest oil painting, “Birch Trees by the Lake ” —oil on canvas, in the Wolfeboro Public Library.

It hangs as part of a group show with the GWAC (Governor Wentworth Arts Council). I’ve been a member for several years. It is a great group of artists and fine craftspersons. The show will be available to view until December 1, 2011.

Also, a new painting, “Three Sandpipers”, now on display at Cattle Dog Coffee Roasters, 541 North Citrus Ave, Crystal River, FL.

The subject is a result of my observation of sand pipers at Palm City beach last year. The birds seemed to be having a discussion so I captured them and immortalize the moment. The ocean is rough and rushing in from behind as they stand in the sand at the edge of the rough sea.

Two other smaller water color paintings hang at the Hernando Shop as well. Go to Cattle Dog! They have the best coffee in the country! Their’s is the only coffee I can drink. And their pastries are spectacular. If you like really good (I mean really, really good) food for lunch, instead of a burger somewhere or a plain sandwich with little flavor, get in your car and drive up to Hernando or Crystal River and visit the Cattle Dog Coffee Roasters. They will treat you right. They also have wi-fi so you can check out my website as well.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
